Policies

OPEN ACESS AND LISENSING

IJDIS Publications is based on a Gold Open Access model, which means all published articles will be accessible immediately and permanently, with no access restrictions. This model enables researchers, institutions, and readers to access and enjoy scholarly research freely worldwide, enhancing the visibility, reach, and influence of research. The articles are all published on the Creative Commons CC BY-NC-ND.4.0 License, allowing the sharing and distribution under non-commercial conditions on the condition of due credit to the authors and the source, but ensuring the integrity of the published work.

Article Processing Charges (APCs) are used to support our publishing services, and are charged only after acceptance, and are used to maintain high editorial and production standards. Such services can be rigorous peer review, research integrity checks, professional editorial treatment, and international distribution of articles. We also use the latest technologies and AI-assisted tools to make the process of publication more efficient and quality-focused. Consistent with the international campaign on Open Access, including the Berlin Declaration on Open Access (2003), IJDIS Publications will ensure the elimination of barriers to knowledge to enhance collaboration, dissemination, and impact of scientific research across the globe.

SPECIAL ISSUE POLICY IJDIS Publications.

To encourage scholarly contributions to particular topics or growing areas of research, IJDIS Publications occasionally issues Special Issues dedicated to particular topics or growing areas of research. These problems are meant to unite the best research done on a specified subject of scholarly and practical interest.

A Special Issue is usually under the management of one or more Guest Editors, specialists in the pertinent field who collaborate with the editorial team of the journal. Guest Editors will be in charge of managing the peer review process, academic quality, and ensuring that everything submitted to the journal meets the necessary standards.

Manuscripts submitted to Special Issues are reviewed in the same rigorous peer review manner and should be in accordance with the editorial and ethical requirements of the journal. The editorial board of the journal will still oversee final publication decisions to facilitate transparency and quality.

Archiving policy

IJDIS Publications takes care of the long-term maintenance and access to all published materials by ensuring solid digital archiving standards. All the articles are safely kept and preserved on our publishing site to ensure that scholarly work is always readily available. Authors are allowed to keep the final publication of their articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, or other legitimate websites as long as they also include the appropriate reference to the original publication.

IJDIS advocates open access values and promotes a broader sharing of research without jeopardising the integrity or permanence of the scholarly record.

We participate in LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, and the PKP Preservation Network (PKP|PN) to decentralise, secure, and permanently archive.

Digital Preservation and Archiving Policy

Digital Preservation Policy

International Journal of Development and Innovation Studies (IJDIS)
Published by DisJournals.org

IJDIS recognises the importance of ensuring long-term accessibility, integrity, and preservation of scholarly publications.

The journal maintains a digital preservation strategy to protect published research against technological changes, data loss, and platform disruptions.

IJDIS uses the following preservation mechanisms:

1. Open Journal Systems (OJS) Preservation Framework

IJDIS is hosted on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) publishing platform, which supports structured metadata management, digital preservation workflows, and long-term scholarly communication.

2. Crossref DOI Registration

All published articles receive Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) through Crossref.

DOIs provide permanent identification and persistent access to published research.

3. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

IJDIS participates in the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), where available, to preserve journal content through a distributed preservation infrastructure.

4. Institutional and Repository Preservation

Published articles may also be preserved through recognised academic repositories, institutional repositories, and indexing platforms to enhance long-term accessibility.

5. Metadata Preservation

Article metadata, including:

  • author information;
  • abstracts;
  • keywords;
  • references;
  • DOI information;

are maintained through Crossref metadata deposits to support discovery and citation tracking.

IJDIS regularly reviews its preservation practices to ensure continued availability and integrity of published research.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use and Disclosure Policy

International Journal of Development and Innovation Studies (IJDIS)
Published by DisJournals.org

1. Policy Statement

The International Journal of Development and Innovation Studies (IJDIS) recognises the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic research, writing, data analysis, and scholarly communication.

IJDIS acknowledges that AI technologies may support researchers by improving efficiency, accessibility, language quality, and analytical capabilities. However, the journal emphasises that authors, reviewers, and editors remain fully responsible for the integrity, accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance of all scholarly outputs.

AI tools must be used responsibly, transparently, and in accordance with accepted principles of research ethics and academic integrity.

2. AI and Authorship

Artificial Intelligence tools, including generative AI systems, cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to IJDIS.

Authorship requires:

  • intellectual contribution;
  • responsibility for the research content;
  • accountability for the accuracy and integrity of the work;
  • ability to approve the final manuscript.

AI systems cannot meet these requirements.

Human authors remain responsible for all content submitted to IJDIS, including any material generated or assisted by AI tools.

3. Permitted Use of AI Tools by Authors

Authors may use AI-assisted technologies for limited purposes, including:

  • improving grammar, spelling, and language clarity;
  • assisting with formatting and organisation;
  • supporting literature organisation;
  • improving readability;
  • assisting with coding or technical processes where appropriate;
  • supporting data analysis when properly validated and reported.

The use of AI tools does not replace the author's intellectual contribution, critical analysis, or scholarly judgement.

4. Mandatory Disclosure of AI Use

Authors must disclose significant use of AI tools during manuscript preparation.

Where AI tools have been used beyond basic spelling or grammar assistance, authors should include an AI disclosure statement in the manuscript.

Example:

AI Disclosure Statement:
The authors acknowledge the use of [name of AI tool] during the preparation of this manuscript for [describe purpose, e.g., language editing, data analysis support, or structural improvement]. The authors reviewed and verified all AI-assisted content and take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the published work.

5. Prohibited Use of AI Tools

Authors must not use AI tools to:

  • generate fabricated research findings;
  • create false references or citations;
  • manipulate or falsify research data;
  • submit AI-generated manuscripts without substantial human intellectual contribution;
  • conceal substantial AI involvement in manuscript preparation;
  • misrepresent AI-generated content as original human scholarship.

Any suspected misuse may result in rejection, correction, or retraction of published articles.

6. AI Use in Peer Review

IJDIS reviewers must maintain confidentiality throughout the peer-review process.

Reviewers must not upload unpublished manuscripts, reviewer reports, or confidential research materials into publicly available AI systems.

Reviewers may use AI tools only where:

  • confidentiality is preserved;
  • institutional policies permit such use;
  • the reviewer remains fully responsible for the evaluation provided.

AI-generated peer-review reports without independent expert assessment are not acceptable.

7. AI Use by Editors

Editors may use AI-assisted technologies for administrative purposes, including:

  • improving workflow efficiency;
  • detecting formatting issues;
  • supporting manuscript management processes.

However, editorial decisions must always be made by qualified human editors based on academic merit, ethical standards, and peer-review evidence.

AI tools cannot make independent publication decisions.

8. Research Data and AI

Where AI tools are used for:

  • data processing;
  • statistical analysis;
  • modelling;
  • machine learning applications;

authors must provide sufficient methodological information to enable transparency and reproducibility.

Authors remain responsible for verifying AI-generated outputs and ensuring methodological accuracy.

9. Plagiarism, Integrity and Misconduct

The use of AI-generated content without appropriate acknowledgement may constitute academic misconduct.

IJDIS reserves the right to investigate suspected misuse of AI technologies in accordance with its Publication Ethics and Research Integrity Policies.

Possible actions include:

  • manuscript rejection;
  • publication correction;
  • article withdrawal;
  • retraction;
  • notification to relevant institutions where necessary.

10. Continuous Review of Policy

Because AI technologies continue to evolve rapidly, IJDIS will periodically review and update this policy to reflect international developments in scholarly publishing, research ethics, and responsible AI practices.
